Need a new electric shaver as my Philips rotary razer has been discontinued and can’t get replacement heads.
Any suggestions for the replacement?
I’m thinking of trying a foil shaver like the Brain 9 pro series as it gets good reviews.
Any others?

I have a Braun series 9 pro+.
It’s good but not as close as a wet shave. It does well on long stubble, even 5 or more days, and doesn’t give me a rash. I understand the Panasonics shave closer but at the expense of comfort/burn.
I still wet shave for Sunday best.
This guy’s reviews seem good: https://shavercheck.com/best-electric-razor/

I bought some wahl clippers in lockdown and they’ve been great. Didn’t realise they did shavers. Will take a look.
I have a Braun series 9 pro+
That’s the one I’m looking at. I’ll use it every day or every couple of days depending when I’m in the office. Also like the cleaner you can get with it as I have one with my old shaver and does a good job of cleaning the shaver.

I posted for this a while back https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/recommend-me-an-cordless-electric-foil-shaver/
I tried the Panasonic ES-LV9U 5 Blade Men’s Electric Shaver And thought it was next to useless and managed to send it back for a full refund.
tried from Amazon the Braun 5 recommended I think from my thread and that was also useless at providing a good shave, almost on a par with the much more expensive Panasonic.
then tried this Doao shaver and this was truly useless, felt like it was ripping the hairs out.
finally got a Braun series 9 pro+ as a reduced cancelled order from fleabay with the battery case and cleaning station and it’s amazing. Makes a really good job of the shave, if it breaks it’ll be replaced with the same. Love it.

The Braun cleaner is brilliant.
It’s a great work shaver, as it’ll take you from scruffy to corporate with minimal fuss or chafing.

Oh yeah, the Braun 9 pro+ does a decent close shave with no rash, for me at least.
I paid £100 for mine.

Sounds like the Braun is favourite.
What’s it like shaving the neck. My old Philips wasn’t great and had to tidy up with a razer.

Yep the initial cost is eye watering but hopefully will have it for years.

I need a shaver for my face (heavy stubble growth) and head (normal hair growth, but can’t be arsed with hair so shave it) that’s quick and easy to use as I have spms and my hand grip, muscle strength and general “can’t be f**ked” doing anything at all as I’m knackered” attitude means it has to be quick and easy to use.
Would one of the fancy Braun series 9 shavers be a good choice?, can they be cleaned easy?, I don’t have sockets in bathroom so couldn’t plug in cleaning thingy, it’s my birthday coming up so mum/bro/best mate want to buy me something despite my protestations so perhaps the Braun would make a sensible choice as it may make my life a bit easier.
Ill have a look at the shaver review site listed above and see what’s what
I bought one of below after a head shaving thread on here last year but it burns like hell and takes ages to cut, I’m quicker sticking my head under the shower and using an Aldi razor,

it’s really good. Made me realise just how poor the Panasonic is on the neck. The Braun will pick up all the flat hairs etc on the neck. Minimal redness and no skin irritation or rashes. I sometimes use the bulldog sensitive moisturiser afterwards, that cools off the skin well after the shave.
its the only electric shaver that has been good for me on the neck area.
id also challenge the perception that the braun 9 isn’t as close as the much lauded Panasonic, I reckon it’s easily as close, if not better.
the shaver check review site is good, but it claims the panny is the closest etc and easier to clean etc. but the Braun is a piece of pish to clean – you don’t really need the station thing, charge lasts ages too. The battery case is quite cool, esp if you go away for a week.

Doao head shaver thingy on Amazon – avoid as it’s guff
I have one and agree it’s shite, as is the face shaver I posted above from the same manufacturer, The head shaver was good for a week or two, but after that rubbish, it’s been in the drawer ever since. Waste of money – at least I was able to return the face shaver from them to Amazon.

Yep, exact same experience with it cutting great for the first couple weeks then it seems to rip out the hairs or it needs passed over again and again to cut anything leaving razor burn.
Whats more annoying is I bought my brother one a week after I purchased mine but his is still in the box, unused.

After posting my incredulity at the expense of the Braun 9 series of shavers yesterday up thread ^, with my tail between my legs I’m considering buying This Braun 9 Pro+ model with the cleaning station for £237.
From reading loads reviews it does seem the best for face/head use without the usual burning feeling afterwards
Gulp….its.a whack of cash to simply remove hair but it’s possibly my most hated/avoided thing I do, especially using a combination of my shit clippers/philips one blade/doao shit rotary thing mentioned above so I guess I’ll soon find out if it’s worth it.

I had a Braun S2 for a few years which did the job really well, as long as I got a new foil every 18 months or so. Xmas before last I got myself an S9 Pro with cleaning station, hoping that I wasn’t wasting my brass.
I brush it out then put it on the station to clean and charge once a week, and it feels like a new, again.
I’d buy another.

Had older Braun series 7 which died after 10 years, was pretty happy with it, but needed to then “polish” with wet shave.
Bit the bullet and got series 9 pro+ with cleanly thing (Boots usually have half price ish offer) – wet razor hasn’t been touched since I got it.

Thanks for the info on the Braun shaver.
Picked up my new Braun 9+ pro this morning.
Just tried it and wow. Very impressed with it. The shave is very close.
With the old shaver I had to tidy up with a normal razer on the neck. Don’t need to do it with the Braun.
Now…..how often to use the cleaning station? A quick look online says Braun suggests using after every shave!!

My Braun S9 pro+ arrived earlier and ive tried it out on head/face with 3 days growth, works ok but the shaver head needs cleaned out a few times when cutting 3 days of growth otherwise it leaves clumps of cut hair over scalp – not much razor burn so that’s a plus. I guess if I use it every day it’ll work/cut better.
It’s ok, not revolutionary though as some reviews seem to make out.
I don’t have a shaver socket in bathroom so drilled a hole through bathroom wall into bedroom where I’ll plug into an extension lead

I’ve struggled to find a decent shaver over the years but got one of these for £100 when on offer
It’s not perfect – still have to trim longer hairs by other means, but it does a pretty good job in general.
Not sure I’d want to pay anymore than £100 though.
